My sense of community comes in large part through my family. My wife is a second grade teacher. My daughter is involved with non-profit groups leading the fight against hunger. They have helped me to see my community in a different way than I ever would have without them.

My community involvement has mostly centered around my expertise in engineering and land development, these include:

  • The civil engineer on the Powhatan County Architectural Review Board,
  •  A member of the Powhatan County Transportation Study Group,
  • A contributor and teacher in the Virginia Tech Land Development Design Initiative in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department,
  • A member of the Steering Committee for the STEM program for Powhatan County Public Schools
  • A mentor for the Emerging Leaders in Powhatan County High School
  • A member of the Chesterfield Site Plan Committee
